Telecoms, Broadcasting and IT Law

Our firm has significant transactional experience in the area of Telecoms, Broadcasting and IT Law. This is largely in the areas of regulatory advice, establishment and advice on advertising law. Key areas include requirements for licensing of media houses and telecom companies as well as contractual arrangements for IT related transactions. We also advise on the legal environment governing electronic transactions in Uganda.

Relevant sector laws include the Communications Act, the Computer Misuse Act, the Electronic Transactions Act, the Electronic Signatures Act and the NITA Act among others. This sector is governed by numerous policies and procedures some of which are cross cutting and affected by the Financial Institutions Act. While Uganda does not have a data protection Act in force yet, a Bill is pending and its passage will have significant impact on government and businesses alike.
